…Give me a grant!
Whenever I meet new people, and they find out that I work for a foundation — a Japanese foundation, at that — they most often think that our office is at liberty to give money away.
I would have to explain that our support is limited to cultural exchanges, in particular between Japanese and Filipino (because we are in the Philippines) artists, academics and general publics . We do these through performances, exhibits, fora, workshops, film screenings and the like.
As much as we empathize with someone’s quest to find her Japanese father, we are not that kind of foundation. If, however, the journey you would like to take is more scholarly and with interest in Japanese language and culture, then you can consider the JF 2010 Grant Programs.
